Ever wondered what it’s like to be in that scene in Tangled with floating lanterns enveloping you? Well, now’s your chance to find out! Join us on this 6D5N tour to the mysterious Northern Thailand – Chiang Mai! Chiang Mai’s proximity to neighbouring countries of Laos and Cambodia and its high elevation makes it a melting pot of various distinct hill tribes who settled here centuries ago. Surrounded by lush forests and towering mountains, Chiang Mai is an adventurer’s paradise which fills travelers with an unexpected sense of exploring every little nook and cranny this place has to offer.

  • Immerse yourself among thousands of lanterns (like that iconic movie scene in Tangled!)
  • Bamboo raft down a river
  • Visit the local Karen tribe
  • Explore the less touristy areas further North in the towns of Pai and Mae Hong Son
  • Pai: Pai Canyon, Pai memorial bridge, Mae Yen Temple
  • Mae Hong Son: Lod cave, fish cave, temple hopping, unwind at Sai Ngam Hot Springs
Day 1 >> 22 NOV (-/-/-)
Arrive in the afternoon where you’ll be meeting our representative at the airport before transferring to your hotel. Check into hotel and freshen up before embarking on your night adventures around Chiang Mai Night Bazaar area. Experience first-hand the rambunctious nightlife of this backpackers’ haven, complete with night markets, live music and delicious local food!
Day 2 >> 23 NOV (-/-/-)
Finally, the day you’ve been waiting for. Explore the city and all it has to offer in preparation for the festivities at night. At nightfall, join in the locals to celebrate Loy Krathong and Yee Peng Festivals to release your own lanterns and let go of the negative emotions of the past year. Witness the romantic sight of thousands of lanterns being released. It’s a magical sight for everyone and a photographer’s dream come true. “And at last I see the light~” (Tangled movie reference, it’s ok if you don’t get it)
Day 3 >> 24 NOV (-/L/-)
Journey further into the Northern parts of North Thailand, stopping to discover how paper is made from elephant poo. Wonder at how the finished product can have no smell of the original ingredient! Continue onwards to Mok Fah waterfall where you can take a refreshing dip in the waters. We’ll pass the iconic Pai memorial bridge which is a reconstruction of the original structure built by POWs during World War 2 to facilitate Japanese’s advances toward Burma. Stop by Pai Canyon, a miniscule geological oddity named after the Grand Canyon before reaching Mae Yen Temple. Admire the stunning views of the valley below. Finally, arrive at the quaint town of Pai and observe the transformation as the main street comes alive in the evening. (*People with motion sickness should be forewarned that the journey consists of over 700 twists and turns.)
Day 4 >> 25 NOV (-/L/-)
Journey onward to Mae Hong Son, stopping by Lod Cave, where you’ll embark on a bamboo rafting experience through the cave and fish cave, where you can discover the abundant species of fishes that dwell here. Visit the local Karen hill tribe village to observe their way of life before retiring for the night in Mae Hong Son town. (*Please have realistic expectations as most hill tribes do have modern amenities now.)
Day 5 >> 26 NOV (-/L/-)
If you want to visit the local morning market, you’ll have to rise early as it starts at 0630 hrs! Get ready for some temple-hopping next as you visit three temples, namely Wat Doi Kong Mu (which affords excellent views across the town of Mae Hong Son as well as the mountains beyond), Wat Jong Kham and Wat Jong Klan. Unwind your muscles at Sai Ngam Hot Springs before catching up on some much-needed sleep on the way back to Chiang Mai.
Day 6 >> 27 NOV (-/-)
Bid farewell to the Rose of the North while vowing you’ll be back for more of their spectacular scenery before departing back to Singapore.
